Writer/Producer

Nate Atkins has written and produced feature films, innovative ad campaigns, TV movies, and has served as an executive story editor on a series. His body of work spans genres, having been shown in theaters and on networks such as Netflix, Lifetime, Hallmark, and Syfy.

Nate studied cinema and photography at Ithaca College in New York, and poetry and ceramics at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain. His short film, CULTIVATION, won praise at festivals across the globe. He moved to Los Angeles in 2002 and started his professional career in post-production, working in editorial departments for features such as THE QUIET and TOOLBOX MURDERS, and hit television series including “24” and Showtime’s MASTERS OF HORROR.

He made the jump to writing for film and TV full-time in 2007, picking up contracts from cable networks including Hallmark, Lifetime, and SyFy. He penned S. Darko (the successful follow-up to Richard Kelly’s cult phenom Donnie Darko), which was awarded a limited theatrical release and distributed by Fox. Nate created a viral marketing campaign for the latest installment of the PARANORMAL ACTIVITY franchise, and he also contributed to the SXSW Interactive Award winner, Craftsman SCREW*D. He recently developed written content for a groundbreaking live-stream haunted house experience for Xfinity called PROJECT DEAD ZONE.

His Netflix Original movie, A CHRISTMAS PRINCE (which Nate wrote and co-produced), launched in November 2017 to a worldwide frenzy. He also penned both follow-ups: A CHRISTMAS PRINCE: THE ROYAL WEDDING debuted to a similar fervor, and the latest installment of the trilogy, A CHRISTMAS PRINCE: THE ROYAL BABY, dropped in December of 2019.

Nate just wrapped two feature films, BLOOD-RED OX (Kantrr Films), and GOOD SAMARITAN (Mar Vista Entertainment), and is in development on two more features, SAÇI (Hindsight Media) and LUCIFER (Dark Castle Entertainment). His reboot of the cult classic, PUMPKINHEAD, is underway.
